![]() ![]() It makes absolutely no sense to use two different areas to control all settings of your PC. While Microsoft got rid of the awful Charms bar, it still clings to shipping Windows 10 with PC Settings and a Control Panel. Traces of the old interface are still there however. It still feels like a massive effort to get people to use Modern apps and Windows Store, and was probably the core reason why all versions of Windows 8 shipped with the Metro interface. While you can still remove all Modern apps from the start menu, the area remains as it is which means you end up with a blank area there. This apparently has been removed by Microsoft in a recent build. It was previously possible to remove all Modern apps from it so that the area these apps were displayed in was removed to leave regular items that you work with. The new start menu has its issues on the other hand. The start menu is back as well but that was not really an issue for me as it was easy enough to install a third-party program like Classic Shell to bring the old Start Menu back. That's great as you don't have to switch between different interfaces anymore, for instance when you search for files or programs on the system or want to launch a Modern App. Windows 10 does away with that interface by bringing Modern Apps to the desktop. Especially the two-tiered interface was a problem back then. When Windows 8 launched, I decided against upgrading the system as it felt like Microsoft left desktop users standing in the dust with it. Why then won't I upgrade my Windows 7 system to Windows 10? The short answer is that I see no need for it. Windows 10 on top of that ships with several new technologies plus everything that went into Windows 8 including the new DirectX 12, a new Internet browser, improved security or Cortana, the digital assistant. Be sure to take the time to play with those options.While there is no direct need to leave Windows 7 at this point in time as it will receive security updates until 2020, doing so adds a couple of extra years of support before the operating system needs to be switched again. The program is fully loaded with all kinds of features that make saving and retrieving your desktop even easier. Voilà, your desktop is back in all its glory! Yes, it can be that simple.įinally, we would like to draw your attention to the menu choice Options from DesktopOK. You select the previously saved moment and click on the button Put back. The moment your desktop is completely messed up again, you call on DesktopOK again. The trick of DesktopOK also has a follow-up: restore the snapshot. Note that the program discriminates in terms of resolutions. So: different desktop layouts for different resolutions. This is very handy for all laptop users who connect to a large screen at home or at work. Please note: an explicit distinction is therefore made between different resolutions. ![]() The moment is thus captured for the current resolution of the desktop, with that resolution conveniently found in the name of the ‘snapshot’. This allows you to make a desktop recording of exactly this moment. Activate DesktopOK and click the button Save. The trick of DesktopOK is ‘being able to stop time’. Continue doing that until you are completely satisfied. With the caveat that you do have the desktop icons aligned in a grid that is so neat. Forget the – automatic – sorting by Windows Explorer and do it completely the way you want. Immediately after DesktopOK is installed, you can clean up and put your desktop in order. ![]() You can extract the zip file, as Administrator in front of All users install and immediately Dutch speaking to make! With these settings DesktopOK is immediately correct. Go to the website and get an installer of DesktopOK there in the 32bit or 64bit version. Fortunately, there is a solution: DesktopOK! But then they have to change screen resolution, Windows 10 can just turn your desktop upside down. Furthermore, it’s not uncommon to use the desktop as a startup screen, placing the icons of your favorite apps in their own place. One keeps the desktop clean, the other makes a mess of it. ‘s desktop Windows 10 can be used in a variety of ways. More precisely: the icons that spontaneously and suddenly appear elsewhere!
